Messages So I was planning on buying an amp at GC this weekend anyways. Well a guy is selling a gift card on Craigslist. Hes willing to meet at GC to verify the balance. Whats the risk? Anybody have experience with this? Floyd Eye Senior Member. Messages 13, Most of them are scams. Feel the dude out. Go to GC and verify the balance. If GC says its right, its good to go. This happens a lot here in Nashville where folks have GC gift cards. I would agree that generally, Craigslist gift-card offers tend to be scams. However, if the guy is willing to meet you at Guitar Center to verify, then unless he is working with a partner-cashier in the store, it seems like your risk is pretty low. If youre planning to be at Guitar Center anyway, Id say go for it. I just called GC and they confirmed that it can be verified. Im gonna go for it. The guy seems pretty reasonable. Ill let you know how it goes. Messages 1, Youd better use it the minute you get it. A lot of the scams involve you getting a card thats good, as soon as you walk out the door, they use it online. When you try to use it, you get told its dead. Hadnt thought of that. Maybe I can just buy a new one with it immediately. The GC with the amp and the GC were meeting at are pretty far from each other. Ill verify with GC that I can buy a gift card with a gift card. Great tip. Thank you. Resonance7 Member. You can probably buy the amp from the other GC at the one youre meeting at. Use that puppy up! Zakko Senior Member. Verify the balance upon the trip you wish to make your purchase. Guitar Center sold the amp I was after. A Pierson Champ with a Celestion Blue. So I called off the transaction. Maybe I dodged a bullet. At least I didnt get all the way up there and waste too much of this guys time. You must log in or register to reply here. Trending Topics. The Sound Hound Lounge. Not loving the Baggs system on it but and I didnt expect to. Guitar is just incredibly balanced tone-wise and plays really well. Trips me out how even the volume is from string to string compared to my Taylor. Not sure what the nut spacing is but I feel a little cramped on the 1st 3 frets which really surprised me. It has some sort of coated strings on it which I dont prefer at all. Very zingy sound. Going to reserve judgement on how well I like the tone until after a string change. As it stands Im thinking it might go on Reverb for sale. Love the looks and the playability but at this point Im looking for an acoustic life partner not just a really nice guitar. If I could make a few bucks on it would score some points with the missus and store up some political capital to use on gear further down the line Not sure this is the one.
