Solid and Rockcrusher are NOT the same company. Grant Rockcrusher recently won a federal lawsuit against Solid Axle Industries over the entire mess. Solid is not legally allowed to sell any diff-covers anymore. Try to add one to your shopping cart on their website it wont work Rockcrusher is still producing and selling covers. You wont find anyone whos selling the Solid covers anymore, or anyone who has them in stock either If yall could spell and not cheep like a bird maybe ppl woulda read what u say. Cmon man. There is no such thing as a cheeper but tough diff cover. The bling bling Mr. Gasket chrome ones arent inexpensive, but they are junk compared to an OEM cover. The heavy-duty, off-road capable covers you can bounce off rocks are NOT cheap, and if you find one that IS cheap Not cheap, but life generally isnt. I have a Cover on the way for my D44 from a company called G2. Its designed similar to a Rock Crusher whats on my current D35 but is made out of Aluminum. Rock Crushers were on month backorder so i figured ill give this brand a try. I have had really good luck with my Crane cover. It has taken plenty of hits without any problems. I also have a Riddler that has served me well. I have had no problems with the stock covers. Did flatten half the head on the bottom most bolt on a rock once, though. Why they dont just make it fit the 28 spline models I dont know. Its not like the back length of the cover effects much. I can vouch that it fits the explorer axle. Having read this beforehand I did go and buy one for my 98 ranger and sure enough it wouldnt clear my ring gear. I put it on loosely and checked. It was rubbing just enough to mark the inside of the cover. I pulled it off and grabbed my 4 grinder. I couple of minutes later I tried it again. Works great. Filled it up and then installed the cover with sealant. All good so far. Putting the axle back under the truck tomorrow. TRS Banner TRS 20th Anniversary. I just bought my 2nd Solid differential cover from Spyntec. AXLE Explorer 8. Its a tough cover. It scratches over rocks, but doesnt give in. Very thick, and durable. CONS Very bad finish. Ive been told that Solid has recently switched powdercoaters, so the material is different. My finish came off with simple brake cleaner, and it was this wierd tacky finish that stuck itself to the paper towel it was resting on. I tried to take the rest of it off, but, i couldnt. The rest of the powdercoating is still good after 2 years, except that one bad spot. CONS The cover seems a little too big for my tie-rod steering setup. It interferes just barely. Ill take the additional oil capacity over other brands. I havent tested it on rocks yet. Im sure its just as durable though. Ive been keeping brake cleaner away from the finish, just in case.
