I started out with disposables then dabbled with bubble bubs with a snappy and cover, only four of them. Once bub could fit the one size ones I got some alvas and some second hand itty bitty tutos. I boost with face washers I used cloth in the past and will again. I just felt awful about the amount of landfill from disposables. I last used them ten years ago so brand advice might be out of date. My tips use disposables overnight maybe disposables for newborns while you get settled. I liked itti bittis and bubblebubs for my skinny babies. For the first few months I will be using disposables just so we get the hang of things, then will transition over summer. It is so overwhelming! The leg bands seem to tighten down smaller with the econaps aswell, not to mention the material of the nappy and the booster feel amazing. These nappies are an AIO which means you have to wash the entire nappy each time. Good Luck! I used cloth nappies for the two years my son was in nappies and will be doing again. I used econaps. Also designer bums but always had leaking issues with these. I only used the OSFM type and they fit my son well from about 8 weeks old. They were the best. I still have all of my nappies and will be using them again. For some tips add yourself to the clean cloth nappies down under Facebook page also look up some MCN pages. You will quickly learn that you never soak them in napisan as it actually deteriates the waterproof material. There is stacks of hints and tips for cleaning and getting a good fit. They r the best! Is there any advantage in using cloth nappy rather than cost? Cloth all the way here! Used cloth with my daughter from 7 months and plan to cloth from birth this time round. Really not that much extra work. Poo just rolls off into toilet or hold nappy tight and place under the flushing water then dry pail. Wash every 2nd day. Oh for poo you can also get flushable liners and just dump the whole thing down the loo. Im a disposable nappy mum all the way. Poo is so gross and I like to just throw it away and never deal with it again and newborns poo every 2 hours so it makes sense the mums saying to use disposable ones to start I did always wonder how they would have enough cloth nappies. Each to their own if you want to use cloth go for it but if you really just want to use disposable ones do it there is no right or wrong its just preference. And cloth nappies are so much more advanced than they used to be. Mind you looking at them now they have changed a lot from what they used to look like! First pregnancy but Im hoping to use cloth nappies. Ill use disposables to start with while we get settled and probably overnight but eventually want to try and be using cloth as much as possible. Regarding the pooey nappies But also, you should be scraping the poop from disposables into the toilet before throwing them in the bin anyway. Log in or sign up to post a comment!
